Island of Krk
Thanks to its beautiful and diverse settlements, rich cultural heritage, numerous sandy beaches and dense pine forests and abundance of fruits of the earth and sea, the Island of Krk has been rightly dubbed the golden isle. The fact that it is very well connected to the mainland via the modern Krk bridge makes this island even more accessible and attractive, while for those who decide to arrive by plane, it is useful to mention that the Rijeka airport is actually located on this island. The small town of Krk, a one time Roman colony and the seat of the Frankopan family, which today is the main town on the Island and renowned tourist destination, lies on the western coast of the island.
